Using free and open source software platforms like DSpace, Islandora, and OJS is essential for sustainable and equitable scholarly communication infrastructure, and is a recurring theme in advocacy and policy (See COAR, Council of the European Union, UNESCO).

But who builds these platforms? And how can we ensure support for this work?..."
