"Scientific knowledge builds and expands on previous scientific results. Publication of peer-reviewed scientific articles is the process by which results are shared with the scientific community and others. The advancement of scientific knowledge relies on the accuracy of the findings reported in the scientific literature. Ideally, when errors are identified in a published article, corrections would be quickly and transparently addressed and resolved.
