Summary:
"UNESCO will convene the Open Science for Innovation Conference at its Headquarters in Paris on 12 November 2026, to examine how open science partnerships can support the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science...
The Conference explores four cross-cutting questions:
- Designing openness into partnerships How can open science, open science partnerships and intellectual property be combined with intention and sequenced across the research to application pathway, so that they reinforce rather than undermine one another?
- Evidence from UNESCO priority areas What do selected partnerships in fields such as water and biodiversity research show about governance, funding and accountability, and about measurable progress in their respective fields?
- Openness and research security How can concerns for the security and integrity of research and data can be addressed without narrowing who is able to take part in science
- Policy levers in government hands How can governments use funding, procurement and data policy to encourage open science and open science partnerships?"
