Summary:

From DeepL's English: Diamond Open Access (DOA) is increasingly being discussed as a sustainable alternative to traditional, commercial publishing structures in academic publishing and is recommended by key stakeholders in science policy. This publication presents the results of a systematic literature review on DOA, which was carried out by the HIS Institute for Higher Education Development e. V. on behalf of the NiedersachsenPUBLISHING pilot project. Based on an analysis of 192 documents from the national and international discourse, key thematic areas are systematically categorised and presented: understanding of the concept and defining characteristics, the current state of the open access transformation, national and international recommendations, legal aspects, cost and funding models, quality assurance, requirements for the range of offerings and services provided by DOA infrastructures, and links to artificial intelligence in the publication process.
