Summary:

Use the link to access more information about the event which took place on May 23, 2012 including links to presentations. The event was sponsored by UKSG, a charitable organization whose mission is “to connect the information community and encourage the exchange of ideas on scholarly communication. We are the only organisation spanning the wide range of interests and activities across the scholarly information community of librarians, publishers, intermediaries and technology vendors.” A summary of the event reads as follows: “What is Open Access?  Are you baffled by the terminology and uncertain as to what it’s all about?  Do you want to know which publishers are doing it, why and how they’re doing it, and what librarians have to do with it?  Are you looking for facts and a clear understanding?  Then come to this UKSG seminar when all will be revealed... This one-day seminar is designed to give a general and impartial introduction to the Open Access (OA) publishing model and the issues and management considerations related to it.  Various stakeholders including publishers, librarians and intermediaries will provide their perspectives on the OA model and its importance.  Current projects and future developments will also be covered.  A group discussion session at the end will allow delegates to talk with the presenters about topics that have arisen during the day, or issues that delegates wish to raise from their own working experience.”
