Summary:

"For an Open Access Forum to capture the very latest in mood and information, London is the obvious setting. The British government as well as UK-based funders have led the push to adopt fundamentally new business models in scholarly publishing. Moreover, scholarly publishing has deep and strong roots in London, where it arguably began in the mid-17th-century At the historic headquarters of the British Medical Association, Copyright Clearance Center recently invited senior representatives from the publisher and funder communities to share their views on Open Access. They noted the shifting role of authors, who increasingly expect more services of publishers, and they debated questions of sustainability and quality control. Participants included Audrey McCulloch, chief executive of the Association of Learned & Professional Publishers; David Clark, sr. vice president, Elsevier; Rhodri Jackson, senior publisher, Oxford University Press; and Mark Thurley, Research Councils UK (RCUK). CCC’s Chris Kenneally moderated the discussion."
