Summary:

“Versita has entered into a partnership with the University of West Hungary to publish Acta Silvatica et Lignaria Hungarica: an international peer-reviewed journal on forestry, wood and environmental sciences. With this move, Academic Publisher Versita expands further across Europe and significantly increases its collection of journals on agriculture. As for the journal’s transition to an open access publication, Acta Silvatica et Lignaria Hungarica’s Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Csaba Mátyás, fully supports the decision to incorporate this publishing model: ‘I am pleased that we were able to do the initial steps to introduce Acta Silvatica et Lignaria Hungarica to the world of open access science through the mediation of Versita. To play an active role in the international circus of scientific competition is not an easy task for the science communities of the new democracies in Eastern Europe. It is not necessarily the scarcity of funding and means, much more the lack of socialization with this new type of research and innovation exchange, in the development of which we were not part of for a long time.’ continues Prof. Mátyás. He adds: ‘Keeping up successfully is particularly difficult in peripheral, small science areas such as forestry, wood, wildlife and related environmental sciences which are the profile of our journal. I see the decision to join Versita as an excellent opportunity to promote international cooperation and join forces in an epoch where problems become more common and require more joint efforts to solve than ever before.’ With an ever-expanding human population, forests and other natural resources are highly valued for both the products they produce and the ecological systems they underpin. As these challenges become more apparent, journals such as Acta Silvatica et Lignaria Hungarica will be at the forefront of fostering new approaches and publishing cutting-edge articles in the fields of forestry and environmental sciences.”
