Peter Suber - Google+ - The Authors Guild does not represent academic authors,…

Summary:

"I'm proud to be a signatory on this amicus brief written by Pamela Samuelson and David Hansen. Even apart from OA, I want my books to be Google-searchable. I don't want to halt what Google is doing, and I don't want the Authors Guild to pretend to speak for me in trying to halt what Google is doing. Authors who want to maximize royalties and avoid OA should want their books to be Google-searchable at least as much as I do. But that's another issue. This brief is about AG's misrepresentation of authors like me, not its misunderstanding of search engines and the true interests of the authors for whom it really does speak."
